I`m starting to feel like I`m in control again so here I am!

Regular readers will know I started Slimming World at the start of last year and lost just over a stone. I left group in May due to financial reasons but tried to keep to plan, sadly the old ways of eating slowly crept in and by Christmas 2015 I had regained almost all of what I had lost. I think not having the weekly weigh-in`s made me a little complaisant and I was in denial of how much I had gained.

I started back up 1 week ago with my lovely friend Natalie who runs the Alderney group local to me. Natalie is an inspiration for me having lost over 4 stone and 5 dress sizes in a year and she has managed to keep it off for over a year.

First week on plan didn`t go very well. As a Valentines treat hubby secretly booked us a table at a local restaurant, it was a lovely idea but sadly there wasn`t a single thing on the menu that I could of adapted to be on plan. I think I used all my syns for the week in one meal!!!! That resulted in only half a pound loss for my first weigh-in. I was so angry and upset that I hadn`t lost more that I was actually chocking back the tears as Natalie was talking to me in front of the group. Oh well it was a blip on hopefully a successful weight loss journey and tomorrow is another day.

So far this week I have been on plan 100% and haven`t gone over my allowed syns.

I finally have the passion back to start trying new meal ideas so will be showing my creations here; let me know if you try any and like them xx
Regular readers of this blog will know that to help celebrate Easter this year we had Breakfast with the Easter Bunny at out local Wyevale Garden Centre in Wimborne. We had a great time so were thrilled when we were asked to see what we thought of their Christmas version...Breakfast With Santa.

Sadly our local centre in Wimborne wasn`t holding this event this time so we visited our next local centre called John Brown`s in Ringwood. Click HERE to see if your local centre is participating in this event.

We arrived just as the store was opening and made our way to the restaurant. We were greeted by two very authentic looking elves who showed us to our table. The table was laid out festively with activity sheet and crayons to keep the kids occupied, a cracker each and bag of chocolate coins for each child. Also we found a lovely card written to the family from the all the staff at John Brown`s.

Then the business of calling Santa started; the children were asked to all sit together on the floor and help Santa know where he had to come to by calling him. Now Ben is usually a bit funny with loud noises but he got right in with the rest of the children and helped to call Santa. And then on cue Santa appeared to the delight of all the children.

The boys then took their seats as our breakfast was ready to be served. With this event there are a few breakfast choices for the adults; you can choose from a cooked full English breakfast with a cup of coffee or a pot of tea for £7.99 or a lighter choice of a baked pastry and a cup of coffee or pot of tea for £3.99. We chose the full English...who wouldn`t??? The kids had a mini breakfast of sausage, hash browns, scrambled eggs, beans and toast.

All of our food was delicious, I honestly can`t fault it all. Hubby especially liked the fact that the baked beans were served in a little tea cup as for some reason he hates it when the beans touch his eggs!!??

As we were eating our breakfast Santa came round to each individual table, sat down and chatted to each of the boys. He asked them if they had been good to which they replied of course!!!

Once breakfast was finished it was time to visit Santa in his grotto to receive a toy each. Whilst we were waiting for our turn the staff brought out a Christmas biscuit, icing piping bag and biscuit toppings for each child to pass the time. The boys loved decorating their biscuits. One thing that I thought was amazing was that the children sitting next to us were allergic to eggs so couldn`t have the biscuits. The girls were quite sad until one of the members of staff came back to them with a little tin of cookies from the store which didnt contain eggs. The little girls faces were a picture of happiness. A huge well done to the staff for going above and beyond to help include the little girls.

After a little while it was our turn to visit Santa in his mini grotto. Each child gets to speak to Santa then choose a toy from a large basket of unwrapped gifts. I think its a great idea to not have the presents pre wrapped as it allows the children to choose something they actually want, plus its not gender specific. I saw at least 4 girls with the same crystal exploration set Alfie had chosen. Jacob chose a Monster crafting set and Ben of course chose the only thing he needs...another car, not!!!!!

The whole experience was amazing, we will definately be coming back next year and will highly recommend anyone to give it a go. It is so worth the £9.99 per child and £7.99 per adult.
We were invited to this event free of charge by Wyevale in return for an honest review of their services.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05467918566357010511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966796916715745897.post-62452131720444349782015-12-11T21:06:00.000+00:002015-12-11T21:09:35.265+00:00An Evening Off Dinner Duties With Table TableWith the manic run up to Christmas in full swing, why not give yourself the night off from cooking and treat the family to a lovely meal that wont break the bank? At such an expensive time of the year the idea of going out for a meal is honestly at the back of my mind, and I`m guessing most of yours too???

The guys at Table Table asked us if we fancied a family night out to try their great new Winter menu. We had been to Table Table a few times during the summer holidays and loved the food so were more than willing to try their new dishes!!!

Who are Table Table I hear you ask??

Table Table are a chain of family orientated pubs that became part of the Whitbread pub family in 2008. Their aim is to provide good quality pub food without splashing out the cash. The menus have a perfect balance of great value, tasty pub classics but also have some more interesting dishes to tempt your taste buds.

We visited our local Table Table restaurant in Holes Bay, Poole with my parents. We were served by the lovely Gillian, and from the moment we walked in nothing was too much for her; she was so friendly and even learned the names of the boys, which the boys thought was great!

The kids menu is amazing, the choices are laid out with photos so that that can choose their own dinner. My boys chose to have chicken dippers chips and beans, burger chips and beans and a hot dog with chips and tortillas....a random combo I know but that`s what Jacob wanted!!! Each child`s meal can have a dessert added to which my boys chose banana splits and a chocolate sundae. Also each child who orders receives an activity book with crayons which is a god send at keeping them occupied whilst waiting for their food to arrive.
I decided to push the boat out and have the Mixed Grill. Now I`m quite fussy when it comes to how my steaks are cooked, I asked for medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly. The steak melted in my mouth as did the gammon...in fact the whole mixed grill was delicious.
For pudding between us we had a After Eight mint sundae, Sticky Toffee pudding with custard and crepes. I didn`t have a pudding as was so full from my mixed grill, but did find some space to help Ben demolish his chocolate fudge sundae!!!
Value for money at Table Table is unbelievable....we had 4 adult mains, 3 desserts and 3 kids meals including desserts all for under £70!!!!
All in all we were very impressed with the new winter menu at Table Table and have no hesitation of recommending them to anyone who is looking for a value quality family meal out.

When it was just us hubby and I were quite selfish and really spoiled each other. Now we spoil the boys rotten!!

Each year I want to create lasting memories for the boys as I have such find memories of family Christmas` from my childhood.

One thing I have been meaning to do for a fair few years now is to make a Christmas Eve box, but never got round to doing it for them. This year I have decided to make one each for the 3 boys.

Because I don`t want to take the excitement of Christmas day away from them by having a box heaving with presents I have decided to do a basic but fun box. Here is what I intend to put in them.....

1. Christmas PJ`s - Nothing compares to the feeling of new cozy pj`s and its even better if they are Christmas themed! I know some people like to buy pj sets that can be worn all year round but I love seeing all my boys in matching clothes...even though I hated it when I was younger with my sister!!

2. Christmas Themed Book - There are so many different types of Christmas themed books on the market that I didn`t know where start....I fell in love with the RNLI`s take on the Christmas story. Incorporating the amazing institute that is the RNLI the book tells the story of how they save Christmas by helping out Santa when he gets into trouble. Each book can be personalised with your childs name to make it feel even more special. To order your personalised book click HERE.

3. Christmas Film - What better way to spend Christmas eve than being all snuggled up on the sofa with a Christmas film?? We tend to watch the classic Home Alone which all 3 boys enjoy no end. In each box this year I am adding a little DVD of Christmas themed cartoons.

4. Hot Chocolate & Marshmallows- The perfect treat for any family film night...the marshmallows are a must!!

5. Reindeer Food - The boys love to sprinkle some glitter and porridge mix by the cat flap in the back door, they say its so that the Reindeer`s can pop their heads through the flap and have a snack!!

I haven`t decided what to put all the bits in yet...a decorated box or a sack. All depends on what I see in the coming few weeks before the big day!!

Do you do Christmas Eve boxes??

What do you put in them?? I`d love to hear all your suggestions xxx

FlashSticks to the rescue!!

FlashSticks is a revolutionary method of learning a new language quickly and easily.

Richard, the founder of FlashSticks, wanted to learn Spanish quickly. He was taking lessons but wanted a more efficient and fun way to learn.
He found himself starting to write down the word he wanted to learn on a sticky note with a simple picture of the meaning of the word, the word in Spanish and the pronunciation underneath the picture. Different coloured notes helped him remember the gender of the word.

Being on sticky notes you could then stick the note on the actual item, the idea is that you repeatedly see the item and the language description next to it and learn to associate them together making learning quicker and more fun.

FlashSticks are available in many languages including Spanish, French and even Sign Language! There are multiple levels to each language starting at beginner right up to advanced when you are becoming fluent in your chosen language. Each pack has around 100 sticky notes to stick around your house or workplace. Click HERE to see the while range of languages available to purchase.

When I was approached to try FlashSticks I had never heard of them. After some research I was pleased to find out that the price of each pack is very reasonable with a RRP of £4.99. I have looked at many other teaching methods but was put off by the high cost of each method, the price definitely got my attention!!

After explaining how each note worked the boys were really keen to start learning...to begin with we decided to stick the notes on the wall next to the dinning table so we could go through each note during dinner.

Only after a few days of the notes being there the boys were actually starting to pick up the words and quizzing each other. Every few days I tested them and amazingly they had remembered the words! We add new words to our learning area every few days so not to over load the boys; they are loving it. I honestly cant believe how quickly they are picking up each new word...I think that the pronunciation section makes a big difference as it allows them to break the word down phonically.

The FlashStick App has been created to run in tandem with your sticky note learning path. Available on both android and ios operating systems you`ll be very unlucky to find a device that wont run the new app.

The app is FREE and is a digital version of the sticky notes; you can track your progress on the app which shows you just how much you are learning.

FlashSticks app has a unique feature of the Worlds first object translator...you use your devices camera to scan an object and the app will tell you what the object is in your chosen language.

The boys love to scan random things when we are out and about to see what the app comes up with!

I would strongly recommend this learning system to anyone looking to learn a new language whilst having fun, the price is great and the different levels available will suit everyone.

Check out the video below of he boys showing just how easy it is to learn with FlashSticks.
Hands up if you like chocolate and cake ( holding both hands up very high!!).

Recently I visited Chococake of Wimborne, Dorset and found that they have expertly combined both in one shop.

Wayne and Hazel opened up the shop in my local town of Wimborne a little over 2 years ago. They used their extensive knowledge of the catering business and combined their passions of chocolate and cake creating Chococake.

The store stocks an impressive range of Choco Chocolates which are made in the neighbouring town of Swanage. They stock anything that can be made from chocolate...VW vans. 3d robots, football boots, bunnies, chocolate logs, pumpkins...literally anything!!

Hazel and Wayne pride themselves on supplying their customers with quality chocolates and home made bakes using almost exclusively local produce thus supporting local businesses....something that I believe in strongly. For example the nougat and marshmallows are made down the road in Colehill and some of the vodka chocolates use vodka made in Dorset!! The range of home made bakes is immense, both Hazel and Wayne love cake making and have made some very impressive bespoke cakes as you can see below.

If I have to describe Chococake in one word it would be `passionate`. All the staff are passionate about their jobs and their products. Wayne blew me away with his knowledge of how each chocolate is made step by step, he even gave me a mini chocolate lesson on the differences of their chocolate compared to the mainstream chocolates....I was very impressed!

For his age he was allowed to enter the 1.5k race; the course of which took him along Bournemouth seafront, up and down Bournemouth Pier with the finishing line just before the iconic seafront bridge.

Last year Alfie did the course in 8m 18s. But for some reason Alfie wasn`t as confident as last year and kept saying that he didn`t want to do it as he thought he wouldn`t be able to beat last years time. We explained to him over and over again that the timing didn`t matter one bit; as long as he was having fun that`s all that mattered. Plus with being a year old, having longer legs and more stamina we were sure he`d beat last years time.

Saturday afternoon we made our way down to Bournemouth seafront to find it heaving!!!! This was the events 3rd year and was visibly a lot more popular than last years festival.

Hubby made his way to the start line with Alfie whilst I made a bee-line straight for the finishing line as last year we learned that if you wanted a good view point you would have to get there about 20-30 mins before the race started.

I was stood ready with Jacob and Ben waiting for Alfie to come over the finishing line when all of a sudden 2 out of Alfie`s 3 sets of grandparents appeared out of the crowds to cheer him on!!

We assumed the race had started by the fact that the timer was running above the finishing line, I say assumed as the start line was well out of eye and ear shot so couldn`t hear the starting gun go off.

Due to Alfie`s time last year of 8m 18s I had told myself to get my camera ready about 6 minutes into the race as no-one would of come over the line by then....how wrong was I?? At 5m 30s a young boy came zooming past me to finish in the courses fastest time ever!!

At 6m 50s I heard my mum screaming "he`s coming!!", and sure enough Alfie was sprinting towards the finishing line!! I barely had time to get my camera ready and managed to take 2 not so great pictures of him whizzing past me.

My amazing son had shaved off 1m 19s off of last years time coming in at 6m 59s!!! I was so proud of him I instantly welled up with tears as I knew he`d of done his best to finish so quickly.

When I collected him from the holding pens he had the biggest smile on his face; he didn`t know his official time but he knew he`d done well. When I told him he was so happy it made my heart melt. We collected his amazing finishers medal and goody pack which included a finisher t-shirt which he instantly put on...as you can tell from the photo below he was so proud to be showing off his medal.

I am so proud of you Alfie for completing the race and beating last years time. You will do even better next year in the next age group up and longer race of 2k xxx
I can honestly say that I have been so busy over the last few weeks that sadly blogging has been the last thing on my mind.

With Ben starting nursery 3 weeks ago I now have 3 hours a week to myself , but what am I going to do with it I hear you ask?? Well sadly I am not going to be having some chill out time; instead I have decided to take my hobby of crocheting to the next level and have set up a new blog to document my patterns and creations plus a YouTube channel for video tutorials of the patterns. So my 3 child free hours a week will now be spent recording and editing video tutorials, plus writing and blogging about what I have created....am I mad??

The new blog is called Crochet Bliss UK, please feel free to take a peek...I hope you like what you see!!
It is a work in progress so please be kind!!

So then, hopefully I will be back publishing posts about the antics of the Wood family more often, see you soon xxxxAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05467918566357010511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966796916715745897.post-84193417144787049792015-09-18T16:16:00.003+01:002015-09-18T16:16:46.918+01:00Darkmouth 2 - Book ReviewI am so glad that one of my better traits to be been passed down to my boys is my love of reading. The two older boys love to read and are getting rather good at it!!

At school Alfie is reading at an age level of 11 years...not bad for an 8 year old!! Because Alfie is quite advanced for his age I do find it hard finding books for him to read that are challenging enough for him to keep an interest in the book but not too advanced in its context for him to understand.

Whilst searching on the internet for some new books I came across the Darkmouth series.

Aimed at a higher age range of 12 years onwards, Darkmouth and Darkmouth Book 2 -World`s Explode are 2 books in the new series about a boy who finds out that his family has a calling...they are Legend Hunters and its Finn`s turn to keep up the family reputation. Legends...A.K.A terrifying, human eating monsters are trying to invade our world but not if Finn has anything to do with it!! The books tell his story from finding out he is a Legend Hunter to how he tries to defeat them.
He was a little worried he wouldn't understand the book as it is a lot more advanced than any other book he has read as yet.

I`m not going to lie...he did struggle to begin with to understand how the book was written as it swaps from the main story to stories telling of previous battles etc but after a while he got the hang of it and began to really enjoy it.

He hasn`t finished it as yet as it is quite a long book with 455 pages but is thoroughly enjoying it and has even told a few of his friends to give the series a go!!
I feel so bad for not posting here for so long but just haven't had the time!!!

The boys and I made a summer wish list of things that they would like to do this holiday, we had great fun thinking of what we can do. There were some out there ideas like Zorbing but most of their ideas are actually do-able and luckily cost relatively nothing or are cheap...bonus!!!
Today we are having a much needed rest before our next adventures of rock pooling at Kimmeridge Bay and then visiting London on Saturday for a tour around Wembley Stadium!!

I am knackered already and have 3 weeks of the holidays left to go!! We are lucky enough to be going camping twice in the next 3 weeks with 2 sets of great friends and are planning on ticking off a load more things from our wish list when away.

Whatever is left on the list we will try and do on our free days.

Have you got a wish list for the Summer or just winging it??

It`s end of term and the end of Jacob`s reception year in first school. It feels like only yesterday that he was having his graduation party from nursery and excited with the prospect of going to `big boy` school.

He has grown and matured so much I hardly recognise my quiet and shy little boy; he is now a confident and bright little boy who has a thirst for knowledge and is always looking for ways to learn something new.

It is scary as to how quickly this last school year has gone.

Thankfully we now have the 6 weeks holidays to have fun and make some great memories before the school year starts all over again.

The picture below show just how much Jacob has changed...I think he`s grown about 2 inches!!!!

What are your plans for this summer??

An essential parenting app which helps you find classes and activities local to you that are relevant to the age of your child/children. Check out my first review HERE.

Available on ANDROID, IPHONE and WINDOWS platforms there is no excuse not to have this app in your life!!

I have been using the app for the last year and have loved it so was intrigued when I heard that there was a new and updated version being released.

So what has changed??

The whole app has a fresh new look to it with the addition of 2 great new features - `Ratings and Reviews` and `Special Offers and Discounts`. Allowing you to review each activity as you do them so making it a better experience for the next mum to use it.

Each page has been changed to be easier to read and gives you all the information you need with no fuss.

I am liking the new bright coloured sections which make it a lot easier to navigate around the app.

The app shows you what activities are on in your specified area from your postcode. Choose from the huge list of activities listed; here are some of the categories to choose from -

Clubs and classes

Parent and Toddler groups

Nurseries

Indoor and Outdoor Play Centres

Classes for Mums

School Holiday Activities

Attractions, Places of Interest and Days Out

Also another feature that I have noticed is the yellow button on the home page of the activity, which when pressed the activity provider will contact you for a natter.

The app covers over 7,000 different activities around the country. If you cant find any in your area why not give Tessa a message at tessa@milocal.info to see what they can do.

Alternatively if you have a business that you would like to have listed on Mi Local give the team a shout on the email above or register your activity on the Mi Local website under the CONTACT section of the website.

There have been some technical problems with the previous versions which Tessa and Charles have been tirelessly working to resolve but inevitably there are problems with any app. If you do find a problem when using your app please feel free to contact the guys at tess@milocal.info and they will try sort it for you.

If you have children then this is a MUST HAVE app....it FREE and it works xxx

To tell you the truth I jumped at the chance!! All 3 boys seem to be going through a phase of testing the limits in their own individual way and I have been feeling frazzled and worn-out for a while with none of my methods seeming to make any difference at all.

To begin with I was very sceptical as to how a book could change the way you parent your children. We all think that we are doing it the right way..am I right??

Now I hear you asking what does NLP stand for?? Well NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Programming. "Neuro" is what we think; "Linguistic" is what we communicate verbally and non-verbally; and "Programming" is how we process the communications and experiences we have.

NLP is ideal for working with children to help develop their confidence, internal referencing and communication skills. It shows you how you can show your children how to use these tools in everyday life to become happier and ease their passage through life.

The book helps you identify situations in everyday life that could be a trigger for stress or confrontation and teaches you how to approach the situation differently and so have a better outcome. You are taught to see the good in every situation and take that good and project it onto your child. Also you are advised to say different words as some words are limiting.

Instead of saying to your child never, should, can`t, must and should, you change them to a positive. So for example if you normally say "You should wash your hands before eating" you can change it to "Lets go and wash your hands before tea because they are dirty", same request just put differently.

The book is divided into many chapters...to many to list here but it breaks down NLP into easy, manageable sections for you to read.

I have really enjoyed reading this book and have taken a lot from it, I admit that I wont be sticking to it 100% but I`d say 90% of the time!! I have definitely seen a difference in the boys since using this book and would highly recommend it to any parent friends.

Below is some more info on the author and where to grab your copy of Be A Happier Parent With NLP.
The company ceased trading to its independent traders last year so I have been on the look out for a new product.

Mum`s Office to the rescue!!!

Mum`s Office offer a massive range of diaries and planners to help keep busy families organised and up-to-date with each others busy lifestyles.

Each product is designed to help minimise the stress of daily life by allowing easy viability of the day, week or month ahead`s schedule in one place.

All the diaries and planners are printed in Mum`s Office signature pink (except the Dad`s To Do list!!) and come in lovely pastel or bold colours, suiting every style and taste, with lush snake skin detailing. I am lucky enough to of been sent a Mum`s School Year Diary in Sea Green...I love the cover, I keep stroking it!!!!

The diaries and planners comes in either an academic -13 month, or calendar format. With the boys I prefer the academic format so I can see the whole school year in one hit rather than having it split over two standard year diaries.

The layout of the products are great with easy to navigate information sections at the front including -

your personal details

individual children`s info

pocket money records

dates to remember

notable dates

need to know dates

friends numbers (in case you loose your mobile!)

month to view pages

travel plans section

Then you have the diary section, each double page is split into two. The left side is all for you to list your activities and plans for the week and the right side is for the other members of your family with 4 columns, one for each person.

I personally love this diary and even though it doesn`t start for a few more weeks I have already started entering in our plans for the summer holidays as I need to be on top of things with the 3 boys, their never ending parties and play dates!!! And with a RRP of £14.95 it is definitely worth it!! xxx

I was supplied this diary free of charge in exchange for an honest review.

With the lighter mornings the 3 boys have been gradually getting up earlier and earlier over the last few weeks and don`t think my sanity can take another 5am wake up call so have made this really easy kids alarm clock.

All you need is

a cheap plain clock, I nabbed one from Asda for £2 but am sure you could find one cheaper somewhere.

A green, yellow and red pen or you could even use paints.

Some sellotape

5 minutes to spare!!

All you need to do take the plastic cover off of the clock, section off a section of time on the clock with sellotape and colour it in with the pen/paint. The section that you colour in depends on which suits your family best.

Its so easy to make and the boys can easily understand the rules........

If the little hand is in the red then they have to go back to sleep, its not time to get up. If the little hand is in the yellow then they can get up and play quietly but can`t go downstairs and if the little hand is in the green then they can get up and go downstairs.

This post just lets you know about the differences I have witnessed today.

Regular readers of my blog will know that back in March I had my gallbladder removed, after many months and numerous medical investigations it was deemed that my gall bladder should be removed. I went and had the procedure done and couldn`t say a bad word about my treatment....until now.

Today my husband went into hospital to have an inguinal hernia repaired. When he was first referred by our GP to the specialist we had to choose where to been seen and were very surprised to have the choice of being seen at a private hospital. We chose the private hospital as the waiting list to bee seen was almost 4 months shorter than the regular NHS hospitals. Yes we went to a private hospital but the NHS have paid for all treatments.

Like I said hubby went into hospital today and his experience couldn`t be as opposite to mine if it tried.

My experience involved having a 3 hour wait sat in a overcrowded room of other people who were also waiting for surgery whilst wearing a very flimsy see-through gown. To say I was a nervous wreck is an understatement!!! Why couldn`t I have someone to keep me company?

I was ushered into a room by a rather flustered nurse to be anaesthetised and had the op..on recovery I awoke in a busy ward and sent to another ward way before I was ready. Then was forced to eat a greasy fish and chip dinner within 30 minutes of waking which resulted in me feeling and being very sick. I thought this was normal.

I was left to fend for myself, I never saw a doctor after my op, and only saw a nurse if I called for one, on dismissal my notes were thrown and me and told to go home...no post op advice, nothing. Again I thought this is how it was.

Today my eyes were opened.

On admission my husband was taken into a lovely private room; we met his nurse who would be in charge of his individual care, his anaesthetist, chef and lastly his surgeon. The whole process was seamless and stress free. He got to choose what he wanted to eat on recovery and when he wanted to eat, once he felt ready. If it was me having the op this time I would of been fine. Not a nervous wreck; alone and shaking from head to toe. I was allowed to stay in hubby`s room with him right up until he walked down to theatre and was allowed to stay in his room watching TV whilst he had the op so I was there when he awoke.

The staff couldn`t of been more helpful and nothing was enough for them. It was like a visit to a hotel rather than having an operation. When I was in hospital I felt like a piece of meat on a production line.

Thankfully hubby is now at home with loads of pain medication if he needs it. Another thing that I wasn`t offered from the NHS. I was told to go to the shops and get some paracetamol. Hubby had been given morphine if the pain gets too much, something I would of loved after my op!!

Like I said at the beginning of this post I appreciate everything that the NHS does but now know how different your treatment can be. We are seriously considering trying to budget our monthly finances to allow private healthcare for the family.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05467918566357010511noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966796916715745897.post-20019868609682197652015-06-17T20:12:00.000+01:002015-06-17T20:12:29.165+01:00What I`m Wearing to Britmum`s 2015OMG...Britmum`s 2015 is only 2 days away!!!!!!!!

I am so excited and nervous at the same time...I`m not a very confident person so am somewhat daunted at the thought of being at an event with over 500 bloggers attending. I know I need to suck it up and get out there but its easier said then done.

A great outfit always helps with my confidence and am delighted to say that I have had not one but 4 outfits offered to me by Salt Rock Surf Wear...I`m a VERY lucky girl.

I only recently learnt about Salt Rock but already half of my households wardrobes are Salt Rock clothes!!!!

The casual surfer look is right up mine and my hubby`s street. The dresses I will be wearing are smart but also sooo comfy and that is key when you are active all day.

I am planning to ream up the dresses with some cropped leggings as sadly my legs are not what I would expose to anyone after being bitten to death whilst camping last weekend!

On my feet I going to wear either my t-bar sandals or comfy pumps....smart but casual, the look I always go for. I wish that I could say I love to get all dressed up but with 3 young boys to sort out sadly what I am wearing is at the bottom of the list.

If you are going to Britmum`s as well, let me know what you are wearing so I can spot you and say Hi!!

We literally jumped at the chance, now we are not what I would call `seasoned` campers but have been a fair few times and have most of the kit needed for fun and comfort.

Seeing as we haven`t camped in the New Forest for a long time we didn`t know what to expect, plus I had read the campsite`s website and was a little worried with some of the reviews that had been left. I shouldn`t of worried about a single thing!!

The car was packed up Friday afternoon, the kids were collected from school and we were off.

We were camping at Holmsley Campsite near Christchurch, just inside the New Forest national park and were met by the lovely Abi from The Camping and Caravanning Club, who explained where we were to pitch up and get settled.

Literally as soon as we got there the weather had decided to challenge us and the heavens opened...trying to pitch a tent in the rain is more fun, right??

After pitching the tent in what I am sure was the quickest time ever that we`ve done it ,we finished unpacking and waited to see who else was coming along for the weekend.

In total 13 bloggers attended with only us and Elaine Croft from Canvas Pretty having camped before; all the rest were first timers. And boy did they have a baptism of fire...it started to rain early evening and didn`t stop till the early hours. Luckily their tents had been set up ready for them with all the essentials sorted.

Now then the camp site was beautiful. Being a WWII airstrip there are large open pitching areas dotted with trees and wide and smooth roads (the old runways) snaking around the site.

There is a large reception area with a shop and small cafe/take-away attached to it. The shop is very reasonably priced; so too is the take-away and cafe. Plus a lovely play area for the kids.

The toilet and shower facilities were one of the cleanest we have ever seen, every time we were there (which is very often with 3 boys!) we saw a member of staff checking the condition of the blocks. With the wet weather the floors can become very muddy and slippery but they were constantly being cleaned by the staff.

There are only 3 toilet blocks for the whole site so if you pitch up on the outer areas of the site it might get a bit annoying having to walk a fair way to go to the loo. We were pitched in the rally area which was next to the reception/shop and toilet blocks so only had to dash across the main road to get to them.

On Saturday morning we were left to get to know each other a little better and feel very privileged to of met such a lovely bunch of people. We felt at home straight away and the kids played with each other so well.

Saturday afternoon was earmarked for forest activities and lunch. A very posh looking catering van appeared in camp and provided us all with the most amazing bbq lunch.

A forest ranger then came in their cute little van and set up some educational activities for the kids. My 3 boys loved them and were transfixed by the ranger, drinking in all the knowledge. A bug hunt ensued and everyone was sent off to find some creepy crawlies. Alfie and Jacob were very proud of their finds...a woodlouse and a worm!!

The rest of the weekend was left for us to explore the site and forest. Bikes were provided for us allowing us to all roam free in the forest.

The New Forest is a stunningly beautiful place and the camp site is perfectly located with the forest literally just over the boundary of the site with horses and cows roaming past.

Benjamin loved the trailer and we went for a lovely long ride together. Now I made a rookie mistake of bringing my camera fully charged but in the panic of making sure everything we needed was packed I forgot to pack my memory card....doh! My phone was my only means of taking photos so I apologise for the quality of the photos I managed to take before my battery ran out. I have to say a huge thank you to Elaine from Canvas Pretty who charged my phone for me but alas the battery isnt great and it died again on the Sunday morning.

The New Forest is a beautiful place to stay, a definite must-stay if you are a new camper or a seasoned expert!!
Being a mum of 3 young boys I can`t afford to pay for the ticket, travel expenses and accommodation so the only way I could even dream to attend is by sponsorship.

Well I am so happy and proud to now be able to show and tell you who has been kind enough to offer me sponsorship!!

I have been lucky enough to find not one but TWO sponsors!!

Please meet my sponsors....

Mi Local For Mum`s App, is a free app that allows you to view activities in your local/chosen area to do with your children.

Available on both android and iPhone platforms there is no reason I can think of as to why you shouldn`t have this app on your phone....it is a MUST HAVE!

Android link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=info.milocal.mums.MiLocal
iPhone link - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/mi-local-for-mums/id814502615?mt=8

The Mi Local team are passionate about helping other users find what they want when they want it. With just a few clicks you can find an activity of your choice with specific criteria....say age range of children involved, cost of activity, distance of activity from you, indoor or outdoor activities. And not only can you now chat and meet up with mums local to you, but call, message and find directions all from the app. The app covers most of the country with new coverage areas and new activities/events being added all the time.

I have had this app since it was released and have found it a life saver. I`ve found and attended loads of different events that I would of never of even know about being held without the help Mi Local.

Try it to day and I`m sure you`ll love it....a new and updated version is due for release in the next few weeks so it is a very exciting time for the team at Mi Local.

They thinks it`s all over....It isn`t now!!!

Open Goaaal is a revolutionary garden solution to that ever so annoying problem of stray footballs!!

The Open Goaaal`s design is unique in the fact it allows a normal functioning and looking garden to be transformed into a football haven in seconds. It works by using a white netted goal area and a black netted safe zone around the outside. You have two poles and top line spanning the width of your garden and just like drawing your curtains, you pull it out and peg down your goal net when you need it. The black outer net creates a safe zone which allows any stray footballs to be rebounded back into your garden.

No more needing to go knocking on the next door neighbours doors asking for your balls back or having to replace expensive border shrubs that have been used as a goal post!!!

My boys were sent this Open Goaaal to try out last year and I have to say that this has to be one of the best things invented for your garden, it has been used literally every day since last September in rain, wind and even snow. I can now let the boys out in the garden without worrying about them damaging our neighbours flowers and garden.

My full review and video of the boys using the Open Goaal is HERE.

I have to say a HUGE thank you to both sponsors for allowing me to attend Britmum`s this year, I will be using my time there very carefully and plan to come back with some exciting ideas for Poolemamma; improving the blog in all aspects xxxAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05467918566357010511noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2966796916715745897.post-90475697613509565682015-06-02T10:06:00.002+01:002015-06-02T10:06:41.543+01:00Goodbye Fab Food Friday`sSadly after 6 weeks to trying to get Fab Food Friday`s up and running I have decided to stop doing this linky. :-(

But don`t be too disheartened as I am in the process of creating an new one. I think that FFF was too much of a niche for everyone to join in with so alienated a lot of you. My new linky will be easy for everyone to take part in, and hopefully will be more successful because of this.

Keep checking back to see what its all about!!!
